The Cascade Coaching Process... A Process for Increasing Performance!
Unfortunately, most conventional leadership or talent development programs tend to be little more than a single event... Fortunately, that simply isn't true of the Cascade Coaching System!
Cascade is a fully-integrated process that addresses the 3 key aspects required to ensure sustainable results. Our experts are highly involved in making certain the proper skills are transferred to your managers. We actually spend an average of 15 hours with each manager to make this happen!
In all, Cascade encompasses 7 steps that generally occur over a 6-month period. Each of these steps is critical to the success of the program.

Measure Employee Satisfaction & Intent to Leave.
Each Cascade implementation begins by surveying employees with the Cascade Effectiveness Index. This brief survey is designed to determine current levels of engagement, intent to leave and other issues relating to job satisfaction. These findings serve as a benchmark in measuring the success of the Cascade program. It also offers an overview of the general opinion & satisfaction level within your company.
Leaders Complete Behavioral Assessments & Participate in a Cascade Workshop.
Cascade participants complete a 360 feedback assessment focusing on 20 critical managerial competencies required for effective leadership. The purpose of these assessments is, of course, to pinpoint what the manager needs to do more, less or differently.
The 1 or 2-day Cascade workshop prepares leaders for developing their direct reports by teaching core leadership skills. During the workshop, leaders learn about:
- Enhancing Interpersonal Relationships.
- Cascade Performance Coaching Methods.
- Driving Successful Behavior Change.
In addition, the workshop also teaches skills specific to the organization's current talent priorities: Developing, Engaging, Relating or Balancing. Often, these issues come to light in the Cascade Effectiveness Index.
Performance Coaching Skills Transfer Phase.
After the workshop, managers learn how to effectively coach their direct reports and create developmental plans under the supervision & guidance of an Envisia coach.
This phase begins with half of the direct reports of all the Cascade participants completing a behavioral feedback assessment. Once the assessment is completed, an Envisia coach reviews each feedback report in detail with the appropriate leader and offers guidance through the following:
- The Envisia coach helps the manager develop an individualized coaching strategy for each direct report. This strategy draws upon models and techniques presented in the Cascade workshop.
- The manager meets with each direct report to help determine developmental goals. The direct reports will create their roadmap for success using Talent Accelerator, a comprehensive online personal and professional development tool to help employees understand their online assessments and offer assistance in implementing a plan for their professional development.
- The manager will monitor the development of their direct reports and hold them accountable for accomplishing developmental goals.
Continued & Independent Coaching by Managers.
At this point in the program, managers are well-versed and familiar with the concepts. They are ready to coach their direct reports without assistance from the Envisia coach. The remaining half of each manager's direct reports will complete feedback assessments and managers will continue to coach them independently of Envisia.
This group of direct reports will also create development goals and receive continual guidance from Talent Accelerator for 12 months. Managers continue to monitor the development of their direct reports and hold them accountable for accomplishing goals.
Compare Employee Satisfaction & Intent to Leave.
Approximately 6 to 9 months after the launch of Cascade Coaching System, we will re-administer the CEI survey and compare the latest results to the first time it was taken. The changes in results should show increased engagement and decreased intent to leave. This data will also highlight areas that can still be improved and areas that have been successful. Results from the CEI assessments are also a valuable and effective tool for communicating developmental and succession planning goals to upper management.
